About
Richelle Dynae Rudeen has a degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion
Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, as well as a degree in
Costume Design for Performance from the Arts University College at
Bournemouth. She is currently based in London, England.
Her particular strength in both design and making is the understanding of
how fabric reacts to movement and body positioning, combined with the use of
texture, color and structural design to create strong visual and emotional
impact.
She has always had a passion for the concept of costume as art, and is quite
interested in experimenting with the use of alternative materials and
incorporating structural elements into costume. Her recent work has included
forays into the use of metal and latex in combination with leather and more
traditional fabrics.
One of her recent costumes,
The Ring Mistress was selected as a finalist in the 2010 World of
WearableArt Awards, an internationally recognized contest held annually in
New Zealand. Approximately 190 garments were selected from around the world
for the final show, attended by over 43,000 visitors. The Ring Mistress is
now on permanent display in the World of Wearable Art & Classic Cars Museum
in Nelson, NZ.
For custom fashion, costume
and bridal garments please feel free to get in touch to discuss your ideas
and requirements. Outfits can be designed for any event from promotions,
parties, photoshoots, corporate events, music videos, stage shows to
weddings, or simply just for personal use. A select number of costumes are
also available to rent.
Design Philosophy
"If I were to confine my
philosophy of costume design and construction to one phrase, it would boil
down to: The act of impacting an audience through the artful combination of
shape, color and texture as it interacts with movement".
